Okinawa Day 3

Stuffing our face again, this time with Rizzan’s all you can eat breakfast, we ate and head out for our next hotel.

The Mahaina hotel was a damn ugly hotel on the outside, but beautiful on the inside. Located near the northern tip of Okinawa’s main island, in a relatively country side area, it was quite hard to go anywhere without a car…

We didn’t have a car that day, but we still managed to have fun!

Instead of checking into our hotel, the first thing we decided to do was visit Japan’s most beautiful aquarium with our Kansai friends.

So far I have been to three Aquarium’s in Japan. One in Gifu, Okasa’s Kayukan, and Okinawa’s Churasuikan. The latter was by far the most beautiful.

Churasuikan, holding the the world record for thickest and largest acrylic aquarium, held everything from Whale sharks, Manta rays, and the Great White himself, to those small tiny glowing things that you find at the bottom of the ocean.

My camera died about halfway through…

One thing I learn’t at this Aquarium was that traveling in a large group is difficult. The other group we were traveling with finished 30mins before our group did, and it was hard to manuver once we met up again. We quickly separated.

Fun... but a bit too big...

After checking into our hotel, with hungry stomach’s we searched for the closest restaurant. Turns out there wasn’t much in the area. Walking down random Okinawan streets, with a grumpy because she was hungry Prudence, was a nice experience as well.

Seeing the little streets and homes where people lived was an eye opener. Quiet little jungle roads with scattered houses, both ancient and new, gave a sense of relaxed living.

Ahh… but we were hungry.

We ate at the restaurant near the hotel.

I’m really getting used to eating whole fish, you know. Now when I am presented with a roast fish, I see it as food, rather than a roasted fish.

We took it easy that night.
